Etifeddion ffydd yr Iesu

Etifeddion ffydd yr Iesu,
  seiniwn fawl hyd entrych nef;
Am i Dduw orchfygu'n pechod
  drwy ei serch anfeidrol ef:
Pan ddyrchafodd Fair y Forwyn
  fry yn fam i'w unfab ef.

Bendigedig lwythau Israel,
  etholedig bobl Duw;
Bendigedig diroedd Canan,
  lle y bu ein Iôr yn byw:
Ond mwy graslon Fair fendigaid,
  mam ein harglwydd, mam ein Duw.

Felly cenwch, chwi ffydloniaid,
  am anrhydedd mawr ei bri;
Boed yr eglwys fawr yn rhannu
  yn ei diolchgarwch hi:
Cân y fam yn ei llawenydd
  fyddo'n cân a'n moliant ni.

Seinia glod, o! Fair, i'r drindod,
  tad a mab a'r ysbryd glân:
Seinia glod i'r hwn a'th garodd,
  tri yn un yn ddi-wahân:
Ti sydd uwch na'r greadigaeth,
  seinia glod hyd oesoedd mân.

Westminster Abbey (Henry Purcell 1658-95)

Heirs of faith of Jesus,
  Let us sound praise to the vault of heaven;
For God overcoming our sin
  Through his immeasurable affection:
When he exalted Mary the Virgin
  Up as mother of his only son.

Blessed the tribes of Israel,
  The chosen people of God;
Blessed the lands of Canaan,
  where our Lord lived:
But more gracious blessed Mary,
  Mother of our Lord, mother of our God.

Therefore praise, ye faithful,
  For the great honour of her renown;
Let the great church share
  In her thanksgiving:
A song of the mother in her joy
  Be our song and our praise.

Sound praise, O Mary, to the Trinity!
  The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit:
Sound praise to the one who loved thee,
  Three in One as inseparable:
Thou art higher than the creation,
  Sound praise for endless ages.

tr. 2010 Richard B Gillion
Ye who own the faith of Jesus,
  sing the wonders that were done
When the love of God the Father
  over sin the victory won,
When he made the Virgin Mary
  mother of his only Son.
    Hail Mary, full of grace.

Blessed were the chosen people
  out of whom the Lord did come;
Blessed was the land of promise
  fashioned for his earthly home;
But more blessed far the mother,
  she who bare him in her womb.
    Hail Mary, full of grace.

Wherefore let all faithful people
  tell the honour of her name;
Let the Church, in her foreshadowed,
  part in her thanksgiving claim;
What Christ's mother sang in gladness
  let Christ's people sing the same.
    Hail Mary, full of grace.

Praise, O Mary, praise the Father,
  praise thy Saviour and thy Son,
Praise the everlasting Spirit,
  who hath made thee ark and throne
O'er all creatures high exalted,
  lowly praise the Three in One.
    Hail Mary, full of grace.
